Bloomberg believes that Mansur “has long been involved in the development of relations between the UAE and Russia,” but the importance and complexity of this role has increased due to events around Ukraine.
The publication recalls that the United States, the EU and a number of other countries began to tighten sanctions against Russia, making it a record holder in the number of sanctions imposed, and the UAE did not introduce any restrictions. Several interlocutors of the publication said that officials in the UAE consider the efforts of Sheikh Mansur to work with the Russians part of the “broad strategy of the government to attract global business and maintaining strategic ties with the East and West.” According to sources, in the UAE they consider relations with Russia important given the fact that countries cooperate as part of the alliance of countries – OPEC oil exporters+.
