Palestine will not participate in peace negotiations with Israel if the United States becomes the only mediator in them. This was stated by the country’s ambassador in Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal in an interview with RBC.
“We will not return to bilateral negotiations with Israel, where the United States is the only mediator. I would like to recall that in the last days of the Obama administration negotiations lasted nine months and at the end it was officially stated that the negotiations failed,” said Nofal.
The reason for the failure of the peace process the ambassador called the continuation of the policy of expanding settlements from Israel.
“and therefore, responding to your question, I will say: we will return to negotiations only in the framework of a new international approach, where the intermediary will perform a quartet in the Middle Eastern settlement,” concluded Nofal.
It is about participation in the process of representatives of the European Union, UN, Russia and the USA.
