Parliamentary Assembly of Mediterranean awarded project “Zero waste”

implemented under the auspices of the wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Emine Erdogan, the Zero waste project was awarded a reward established by the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (PAM).

The award ceremony took place on May 15 in the Portuguese city of Braga. On behalf of the First Lady of Turkey, the Minister for Environmental, Urbanization and Climate Climate Mehmet Ozhaseki received the award.

Mehmet Ozhaseki handed over the award to Emine Erdogan in the presidential complex in Ankara.

During the meeting, the first lady of Turkey expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the implementation of the project.

Emine Erdoga emphasized that the Zero waste project is responding with all people who are aware of the responsibility for the respect for the environment.

“For our country, it is a great honor that our Zero waste project was awarded award as the best project in the Green Transformation category awarded by the Mediterranean parliamentary assembly,” she said.

According to her, this award indicates a high international assessment of Turkey’s decisive position in the fight against climatic crisis and environmental problems.

The Zero waste project was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Changes under the auspices of the wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan September 26, 2017.

Over the past period, the project was widely recognized in the international arena and support at the UN level.

At the UN General Assembly in September 2022, at which Emine Erdogan was present as a special guest of the UN Secretariat, on March 30 was declared a international day of zero level of waste. Then the UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterrysh invited the First Lady of Turkey to head the UN Council for Zero Waste.
