Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at a meeting of the Georgian-Armenian Intergovernmental Economic Commission in Tbilisi, said that soon the country could resume road communication with Azerbaijan.
Armenia attaches great importance to the international transport route from the Persian Gulf to the North Sea. I want to note that now there is a discussion of two projects: we build the road north-south, which connects the Armenian-Georgian border with Iran. At the same time, if We will succeed in reaching an agreement on the resumption of road communication with Azerbaijan, the project will change significantly, turning into the North-South-East-West route, “said Pashinyan.
According to him, during meetings with Ilham Aliyev in Sochi and Brussels, with the mediation of Vladimir Putin and Charles Michel, respectively, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to resume the railway communication.
“We have achieved a fundamental agreement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the resumption of railway communication. We are talking about the restoration of the Yerash-Julf-Julfa-Ordubad-Megry-Goradiz railway, and we hope to complete work in the next 2-3 years,” said Armenian prime minister -Minister.
