Pashinyan: Dip Representatives Of Armenia And Turkey Maintain Regular Contacts

Diplomatic representatives of Armenia and Turkey maintain regular direct contacts. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, answering questions from the Turkish media in Yerevan.

The head of the government indicated that the official position of Yerevan is that the “international recognition” of the events of 1915 is not among the priorities of the foreign policy of Armenia.

“In history there is no absolute truth, any perception of history is a political perception,” the prime minister noted.

According to Pashinyan, the term “Western Armenia” does not appear in the Constitution of Armenia. He emphasized that this expression is used in other places, but not in the Constitution. “In my understanding, the expression of Western Armenia denotes the Armenian region of the Republic of Armenia, some settlements of the Armavir region and some settlements of the Shirak region,” he explained.

Speaking about the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, Pashinyan noted that this is “only a matter of time.” “This normalization can be postponed for another three months, six months or a year. However, now I believe that this is only a matter of time, and we must patiently move forward in this process,” the politician said.

The head of government also affected the prospects for normalizing relations with Azerbaijan. In this regard, the prime minister expressed disagreement with the statements that “the world between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not visible on the horizon.”
