Pashinyan discusses exit of Armenia from CSTO

At today’s meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with extra-parliamentary forces also discussed the issue of withdrawal from the CSTO Military Bloc led by Russia, the head of the Republic of Aram Sargsyan told reporters.

According to the Azatutyun radio, he and several attending his colleagues voiced a proposal for the immediate termination of Yerevan membership in the CSTO.

To the question of what will need to be done after that, Sargsyan replied: “There are many countries that are not part of any military union in the world. For example, Jordan is not a member of any military union. Or Israel is not a member of any either a military union, but is a partner of the United States. The United States annually provide military aid in the amount of $ 800 million. According to my estimates, in the case of Armenia, they will provide military assistance in the amount of $ 400 million annually. I expect effective steps from the Armenia authorities in Armenia Plan of exit from the CSTO “.

Did Armenia receive a proposal of military cooperation from the United States? According to Sargsyan, a positive answer to this question was the visit of the speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress to Yerevan. And although Nancy Pelosi did not make such direct proposals in her public statements, Sargsyan claims that these messages were obvious.

“Nancy Pelosi absolutely directly extends his hand to Armenia and says: we are ready to support you in all matters: the independence of Armenia, the territorial integrity of Armenia, the development of the Armenia economy, including the Armenian army, we are ready to support you in all this. Now you are asking They will support or not … People suggested, and we agree to support? Nancy Pelosi said directly about this. Only visits to those structures are enough to draw conclusions about what issues were discussed, ”said the head of the Republic of the Republic.

Sargsyan is sure that the only obstacle is Armenia membership in the CSTO. “They do not transmit new technologies to the country, which is a member of the military bloc led by a country that is their opponent or enemy. That is, our membership in the CSTO prevents us from buying weapons and ammunition with new military technologies. And with Russian weapons and ammunition, with Russian We will always lose technology to Azerbaijan, ”Aram Sargsyan is sure.
