Pashinyan’s opponents will be taken into army

Proper deputies on Thursday called on the Armenian military to call on the army or to army fees of people participating in the opposition demonstrations, which calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan, the Armenian Service of Radio “Freedom”.

Since the beginning of large -scale protests on May 1, the police detained hundreds of protesters, most of whom are young people who participated in the so -called shares of civil disobedience, blocking the movement of vehicles in Yerevan. All detainees were freed after they spent several hours in police branches. The opposition leaders say that protest shares will continue.

The chairman of the parliamentary commission on defense and security, Andranik Kocharyan suggested that many of the participants in the protest shares are evading compulsory military service or periodic fees of reservists in the army.

“Among the detainees, we want to see true patriots, true citizens of Armenia, who should pay their debt to the army if the political goal of the opposition is to ensure the security of Armenia,” said Andranik Kocharyan during the meeting of the commission.

“I urge the police and the Armenian national security service to collect the personal data of these citizens and transfer them to the Armenian Ministry of Defense,” he added.

This idea was supported by other pro -government deputies, as well as senior representatives of law enforcement agencies and the military participating in the meeting.

Meanwhile, human rights activists condemned the initiative of Andranik Kocharyan, calling it illegal and egregious. One of them, Arthur Sakuntz, said that the police have no right to transfer the personal data of the detainees to other state bodies.
