During the initial audit conducted by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), it was possible to save about $ 80 million due to the refusal of financing the programs of “D ETOD, Equality and inclusiveness” (DEI). This was stated by the representative of the Pentagon Sean Parnell.
According to Parnell, the Pentagon collaborates with Doge under the leadership of Ilon Mask to reduce “unreasonable spending.”
The representative noted that in general, we are talking about millions of dollars spent on the initiatives of the DEI and study of climatic changes.
Among the identified unnecessary expenses, Parnell indicated $ 1.9 million aimed at training and introducing the principles of Dei in the US Air Force, as well as $ 1.6 million allocated to the University of Florida to study social and institutional damage from climatic threats in Africa.
The spokesman emphasized that these expenses do not belong to the main tasks of the Pentagon.
“This is not our work. Such things distract us from the fulfillment of our main mission,” said Parnell.
What is the Dei program?
Programs “Diversity, equality and inclusiveness” (Dei) are aimed at creating a more fair and equal environment in educational institutions and at workplaces. However, in recent years, they are criticized for politicization and attempts to impose a certain ideology.
After coming to power, Donald Trump signed a decree “On the termination of radical and wasteful Dei programs in state structures”.
The Pentagon, in turn, demanded that all civilian and military units remove any materials related to the promotion of Dei.
