Pevour: Estonia May Abandon Himars Due To Long Period Of Delivery

If the Americans want Estonia to continue purchases, the pace of production should be much higher than now. This was reported by local media with reference to the statement of the Minister of Defense of Estonia Hanno Pevuru.

The head of the Estonian Ministry of Defense returned from Abu Dhabi, where he took part in the defense industry exhibition and met with manufacturers of Himars- Lockheed Martin.

“If they want Estonia to buy, then the speed should be completely different than the one with which they work now,” said the head of the Ministry of Defense.

According to Pevuru, if Estonia sign a new contract for Himars tomorrow, the issue of supplies will take several years.

“The keys to the first Himars are already in the hands of Estonia. We checked them, the cars were examined, the keys were received – everything is in order. But we need to increase long -range shock capabilities, so we conducted the market research,” the minister who recently visited South Korea, where he met an alternative manufacturer.

The head of the military department hopes that it will be possible to receive missile systems from the United States for two years, otherwise Estonia will have to consider deliveries from other countries.

“We have South Korea, from there we have already ordered artillery. They also have good systems that we could use, but I won’t call more countries today,” said Pevour.

.

Nevertheless, Pevurk appreciated the meeting with Lockheed Martin on Tuesday, noting that the company is ready to put Himars Estonia faster than was originally planned.
