Population Of Turkey In 2024 Reached 85,664,944

The population of Turkey in 2024 increased by 292,567 people compared to 2023 – up to 85 664 944. This is evidenced by the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k).

According to Tüi̇k, the country’s population in 2023 was 85,372,377 people.

At the same time, the share of the male population amounted to 50.02 percent (42 853 110 people), and the share of the female population – 49.98 percent (42,811,834 people).

An annual population growth coefficient per 1000 people in 2023 was 1.1 ppm, while in 2024 this indicator increased to 3.4 ppm.

If in 2023 the share of residents of administrative centers of provinces and counties was 93 percent, then in 2024 this figure increased to 93.4 percent. The share of residents of rural areas decreased from 7 percent to 6.6 percent.

The share of foreigners living in Turkey in 2024 was reduced by 89,996 people compared to the previous year – to 1,480,547 people. 48.3 percent of this population accounts for men and 51.7 percent – women.

Foreigners with visas or residence permit for a period of less than 90 days, for training, tourism, conducting scientific research, as well as Syrians who are in the country with temporary protection status, are not included in the population.
