In 2023, the poverty level in Uzbekistan decreased from 14 percent to 11 percent. It is reported by Uzdaily.uz with reference to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
The Agency for Statistics and the Center for Economic Research and Reforms conducted an analysis, noting a decrease in poverty level by 3 percentage points compared to 2022.
It is noted that a decrease in poverty is recorded in all regions. A significant decrease in poverty is recorded in the Syrdarya region, Andijan region and Karakalpakstan.
The smallest changes are recorded in the capital of Tashkent, Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions.
In 2023, 4.1 million citizens were employed, of which 2.3 million work in permanent and seasonal work, 112.8 thousand – for paid public work, and another 1.6 million became self -employed.
