Premier: Azerbaijan intends to increase wheat reserves several times

The Government of Azerbaijan works on an increase of several times in wheat reserves, said Ali Asadov Prime Minister in Parliament when discussing the report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers in 2021.

“We are working to increase our reserves in many times, including wheat stocks,” said Prime Minister.

According to Assadov, in 2021, the country’s authorities subsidized wheat importers in the amount of 75 million manat ($ 44.1 million at the current course). At the same time, he noted that Azerbaijan mainly imports grain from Russia.

He added that due to the situation in foreign markets, there is an increase in grain prices (wheat), food products, including baby food.

“The government is currently engaged in this issue,” Asadov emphasized.
