Kazakhstan Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze discussed the extension of interaction within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Jajan pipeline (BTD).
According to the press service of the apparatus of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Bektenov met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Kobakhidze, who arrived in the capital of Kazakhstan Astana on an official visit.
During the meeting of Bektenov and Kobakhidze, they discussed the development of trade and economic ties in bilateral relations, transport and logistics, transportation of oil and oil products, digital technologies, agriculture, tourism and other issues. >
Prime Minister Bektenov noted that President Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev pays special attention to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Georgia.
According to him, bilateral relations develop dynamically in all sphere. Bektenov said that the joint intergovernmental commission is working on an increase in mutual turnover.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of using the potential of the Transcapian International Transport Corridor, especially for transit and freight transportation, and expansion of interaction in this area: “It is expected that by 2027 the annual transit capacity of the central corridor will increase to 10 million tons. In 2024, volume goods transported by Trans -Caspian International Transport Corridor increased by 62 percent and amounted to 4.5 million tons. “
Kobahidze from his strip expressed a desire to develop bilateral relations with Kazakhstan.
Having emphasized that his first and “important” official visit to Kazakhstan is aimed at strengthening economic and cultural interaction, Kobakhidze said: “In various fields of cooperation between our states, great successes have already been achieved. We intend to develop a comprehensive partnership with Kazakhstan.” < /p>
During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to the transportation of Kazakhstani oil to the world market through the BTD pipeline.
The Kazakhstan side said that it intends to gradually increase the volume of oil transportation along the BTD from the current 1.4 million tons to 2.2 million tons.
