Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accepted the Supreme EU Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission Kai Callas.
At the meeting, Kai Kallas noted that the EU highly appreciates relations with Azerbaijan and is interested in their further development.
She emphasized very successful and fruitful cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan in the energy sector, saying that Azerbaijan acts as a reliable partner in ensuring the energy security of Europe.
Touching the topic of transport ties, it emphasized the significance of the role of Azerbaijan in this context, which is a very important regional state located in an important geopolitical space.
President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of the EU, touched on a significant role of 4 years of the southern gas corridor in the European gas supply.
The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan supplies gas to 10 European countries, including 8 countries-member countries of the European Union. President Ilham Aliyev noted that, according to the geographical coverage of gas supply, Azerbaijan is one of the first countries that provide European space with gas.
Aliyev noted that a successful and fruitful dialogue was established between Azerbaijan and the EU within the framework of the consultative council of the Southern Gas Corridor. He also noted the presence of great opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy. President Ilham Aliyev in this regard noted that Azerbaijan has rich wind energy resources in the Azerbaijani Caspian sector. The head of state emphasized that at the same time, Azerbaijan with the countries of Central Asia plays an important role in the development of the transcasspian corridor of renewable energy and the implementation of projects in the Black Sea direction, which also joined in Georgia, Romania, Hungary, and recently, Bulgaria.
Azerbaijani President said that, along with the gas sector, there are great opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan with the European Union in the field of transport.
During the conversation, an exchange of views on the issues of ensuring strong stability in the region of the South Caucasus also took place.
The Head of State noted that between Armenia and Azerbaijan on a bilateral basis, steps are taken and discussions are underway to normalize relations.
The meeting also took an exchange of views on other issues representing mutual interest.
