President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the ceremony of starting natural gas from the Black Sea deposits to the Turkish energy system.
“We implemented this project during a record 32 months. Turkey has taken a huge step towards energy independence today,” said Erdogan.
The president said that from the Sakarya deposit at the first stage it would be achieved by 10, and at the second stage 40 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Erdogan emphasized that “Black Sea natural gas will cover 30% of Turkey’s needs.”
The head of the Turkish state said that natural gas for kitchen needs of households and hot water will be supplied for free during the year.
“In addition, all households are exempted from all gas payments within a month,” said President Erdogan.
