Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after the completion of tripartite negotiations, held a joint press conference with President Somali Sheikh Mahmud and Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed.
The Turkish President congratulated the leaders of Ethiopia and Somalia on the achievement of the historical compromise achieved in Ankara.
According to him, the world and the stability between Ethiopia and Somalia in this magnificent corner of Africa creates new prospects for the peoples of the region.
He emphasized that the two camps, overcoming resentment and misunderstandings, took the first step to the new beginning based on peace and cooperation between Somalia and Ethiopia.
“I congratulate my respected brothers and sisters on the achievement of this historical compromise and thank them for the constructive position,” said Erdogan.
The head of the Turkish state expressed confidence that the agreed joint declaration will become the basis for cooperation, economic development and prosperity in the region based on respect.
President Erdogan said that from now on Turkey, Ethiopia and Somalia will make joint decisions about the steps that will be taken, and implement projects that will help strengthen peace and prosper peoples of the region.
