President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with the 45th US President and presidential candidate Donald Trump.
According to the statement published by the Communications Department of the Presidential Administration, during the conversation, the attempt on Trump and the events that occurred after that
were discussed.
President Erdogan once again condemned the attempt on Trump and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery.
Having named the attempt by an attack on democracy, Erdogan said that Trump’s courageous position after a monstrous attack was admirable. According to him, the continuation of Trump to his election campaign without a break gives the power of democracy, this should be considered as an indicator of confidence in the wisdom of the American people.
The President noted that after the attempt, Trump demonstrated strong leadership with his soothing messages about unity in order to reduce polarization and tension, Erdogan congratulated Trump on the fact that the Republican Party officially nominated him as a US presidential candidate.
Erdogan expressed a wish that the results of the US presidential election, which will be held in November, be useful for the American people and relations between Turkey and the USA.
