President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that now there is a general understanding of how a peace agreement should look.
“We only need to work out the details. However, of course, both parties need time,” the head of state said, speaking at the international forum on the topic “SOR29 and green vision for Azerbaijan.”
According to him, they are “closer to solving the issue than ever before.”
“During the occupation, we were very far from this. At that time, we could not even agree on basic principles,” the president emphasized.
Aliyev recalled that then an agreement was not reached even according to the Madrid principles, adding that at that time there was not even a draft peace agreement.
The Head of State noted that Azerbaijan maintains very close partnerships with all member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, with the exception of Armenia.
“We were invited to some events of the EurAsEC at the President and Prime Minister,” he said.
Aliyev believes that COP29 will create the opportunity, at least for consultations between the three countries of the South Caucasus and will lay the way to further cooperation.
