President of Colombia Gustavo Petro said that drug cartels are preparing an attempt on him.
Speaking at the Francisco de Paul Santandra Military Academy in Bogota, he noted that he was the goal of criminal groups because of the struggle against the mafia.
“Drug carpets are planning my murder. They want to release a rocket on my plane. Drug dealers have two missiles that they purchased and hid. We know who they are and therefore must act,” said Petro.

According to him, last year they already tried to organize an attempt against him.
“They want to overthrow me quickly, because they understand that we are following the trail of the largest mafia structures in Colombia. It is scary? Yes, of course, this is scary,” the president added.
He did not give any details about the alleged conspiracy.
Back in 2022, during the election campaign, Petro stated that the criminal group “La Cordillera” intended to organize an attempt on it.
