Greece President Katerina Sakellaropulu instructed to form the government of Kiriyakos Mitsotakis, the leader of the New Democracy party, who won the victory in the parliamentary elections the day before.
The Head of State accepted Mitsikitisis in her residence in Athens. Having emphasized that he feels a great responsibility to the Greek people, Mitsikitis said: “From the very beginning, I strove to ensure that in our country there was a stable and strong government.”
The politician said that he plans large reforms during the second four years of stay in office.
Kiryakos Mitsotakis will be sworn as prime minister at 13:00 local time.
The composition of the new Cabinet will be declared at 17:00. In the general election on June 25, the New Democracy party, headed by Mitzikitis, according to preliminary results, scored 40.55 percent of the vote and received 158 mandates in a 300-seater parliament.
