President Of Kyrgyzstan Called For Joint Struggle With Growing Global Challenges

The world was faced with growing global challenges – climate change, extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, accelerated ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss.

This was stated by President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today, April 24, speaking at the international conference “Global Mountain Dialogue in the name of sustainable development: on the way to the Bishkek+25 summit in Bishkek, the press service of the head of state.

The Head of State noted that mountainous countries, possessing unique resources, are simultaneously exposed to all these processes.

“Our conference is designed to unite the countries of Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia, which, despite the remoteness of each other, are faced with the same problems, such as melting glaciers, loss of biodiversity, degradation of mountain ecosystems in the Alps and Andes, Kilimanjaro and Himalayas, in the Pamiro-Alai and Tien Shan, in the Caucasus and Altai and in other mountain systems, ”said the politician.

Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that urgent measures, coordinated actions and attracting attention of the world community are required.

The President recalled that since the beginning of the 2000s, the Kyrgyz Republic has been actively engaged in attracting the world’s attention to mountain issues, taking consistent steps within the UN, achieving a gradual increase in the global agenda in the field of sustainable mountain development.

“On our initiative, the UN General Assembly in its resolution on” sustainable mining “announced 2023-2027 years of the five-year period of actions to develop mining regions. We are grateful to all our partners for support. Today’s conference is held within the framework of this five-year,” Zhaparov said.

The conference was also performed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotis Ntomeng Mazhar, General Director of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN CYU Dunyuy and the Executive Director of the Asian Cooperation Organization in the forest sector Park Chongho.
