President Of Moldova: RF “uses” Energy For “blackmail” Of Moldovan Authorities

Russia “uses” energy for “blackmail” of the Moldovan authorities. This was stated by Moldova President Maya Sandu on TVR Moldova, Moldipres reports.

“Our dependence on Russian energy carriers is expensive, and people should understand that this is not a gift, but a trap. We see how people throw people, they become hostages of the unconstitutional regime,” the head of state emphasized.

.

According to Sandu, “once and for all it will have to be transferred to the Transnistrian economy to real tariffs in the energy market.”

“At some point, an adjustment will be made in accordance with the real prices of energy carriers, and then the economy will cease to be competitive,” the president said.

Speaking of the Kuchurgan power plant, the president said that “she did not have much hopes for her future, because there is no investment and modernization.”

“MGRES is not very modern to produce competitive electricity, and the competitive price from the MGRES is valid only as long as the gas provided is cheap,” said Maya Sandu.

Since January 1, 2025, the right bank of the Dniester no longer receives electricity from the Kuchurgan power plant, after the Russian concern Gazprom stopped supplying natural gas to Moldova. Under these conditions, consumption is covered by internal sources and imports, the agency explained.
