President of Mongolia: Ulan-Bator highly appreciates contribution to implementation of Convention to Combat Deserts

Mongolia highly appreciates the contribution to the implementation of the Convention to combat desertification (KBOOON), consolidating the results achieved, overcoming challenges and difficulties, as well as strengthening partnerships and cooperation of participants.

This is the President of Mongolia Ukhnaiin Khurelsukh, he said at a meeting with the Deputy Secretary General of the UN and the Executive Secretary of the UN Convention to combat desertification (KBOOON) Ibrahim Tio in Ulan-Bator, Montsame reports.

The head of state noted that he praised the work of the Secretariat of the Convention to attract the attention of the world community to environmental protection issues, the struggle with deserting and reducing the scale of land degradation over 30 years that have passed since the adoption of the UN Convention to Combat Deserting.

Huralsukh spoke about the policy and steps of the Mongol government aimed at combating the desertification and change of climate.

In this context, the president said that preparations for the 17th conference of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Deserting, which will be held in Ulan-Bator in 2026, is in full swing.

Ibrahim Tio, for his part, expressed the gratitude of Mongolia for the attention to the problem of the struggle against the desertification and degradation of land, which is a challenge to the whole world, as well as for timely proposals, initiatives and efforts in this direction.

He also confirmed the full support of the organization of the 17th conference of the parties to the UN Framular Convention to Combat the desertification planned for holding in Mongolia in 2026.
