President Of Turkmenistan Expressed Interest In Expanding Cooperation With EU

The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymuhamedov, met with the Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaai Callas, during which he emphasized the interest of Ashgabat in the development of multilateral cooperation with the European Union, TDH reports.

The meeting was held as part of the 20th ministerial meeting “EU – Central Asia”, which was participated in representatives of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The main topic of discussion was the preparation for the first EU – Central Asia summit, which will be held on April 3-4 in Samarkand.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized the prospects for the development of transport corridors of the North-South and East-West, which can become a reliable bridge to expand trade and economic cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian continent.

The head of state gave high the level of development of the multifaceted dialogue between Turkmenistan with the European Union, confirmed the adherence of Ashgabat to its expansion.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues, including socio-economic development, transport, digital communication, energy, trade and humanitarian cooperation.

Having expressed gratitude for the possibility of discussing the priority directions of bilateral cooperation, Callas emphasized that the European Union highly appreciates the successes achieved by Turkmenistan in all areas. A senior guest also noted that the colorful architectural appearance of the capital – the city of Ashgabat made an indelible impression on her.

At the end of the meeting of Berdimuhamedov and Kai Callas, they expressed confidence in the further successful development of mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
