The state visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan became a historical event in the development of centuries -old friendly relations between the two countries. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press service of the head of state reports.
He emphasized that one of the key results of the visit was the signing of an allied relationship agreement. This, according to the leader of Uzbekistan, marks the beginning of the new chapter in strengthening of interstate interaction and confirms the firmly commitment to the parties to the comprehensive development of multifaceted partnerships.
During the visit, the first meeting of the highest interstate council was also held, which is designed to become an effective mechanism for developing and implementing new proposals for deepening allied relations.
The President of Uzbekistan drew attention to the fact that from the beginning of the year, meetings of the intergovernmental commission, consultations on politics and security issues, meetings of parliamentarians, the forum of the regions, as well as a number of cultural and business events, which became the key to the success of the current summit.
“Azerbaijan is our important strategic partner and ally. We are connected by general historical roots and centuries -old friendship, we have one religion, similar culture and traditions. All this serves as a reliable basis for deepening comprehensive cooperation,” the leader of Uzbekistan emphasized.
During the negotiations, the presidents discussed the entire range of multifaceted relations, including trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, agriculture and culture.
The parties agreed to strengthen political dialogue, provide mutual support on multilateral platforms, continue active contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, industry departments and regions.
Leaders agreed to speed up the implementation of a large -scale regional project for the production of “green” energy and its export through Azerbaijan to European countries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the results of fruitful negotiations will give a powerful impetus to the further development of Uzbek-Azerbaijani ties and will serve to strengthen the relations of friendship and allied between the two countries.
