President Of Uzbekistan Nominated Abdullah Aripov To Post Of Prime Minister

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting of the Legislative Chamber Oliy Mazhlis (Parliament) on November 20, nominated deputies to the post of prime minister, the candidacy of the current head of government Abdullah Aripov. It is reported by Gazeta.uz with reference to the press secretary of President Sherzod Assadov.

Mirziyev noted that “the new Uzbekistan with the new parliament enters the decisive stage of its development,” and “at this new stage you can not work according to yesterday’s requirements and criteria, in the old way.”

“The government must organize its activities on a completely new basis, for which he needs a strong leader, namely – Prime Minister,” the president said.

The head of the Uzbek state said that after a comprehensive analysis, he decided to nominate Abdullah Aripov for the post of Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev characterized Abdulla Aripov as a leader who has high organizational abilities, deep knowledge and rich experience in the executive system, as well as a person who always realizes his responsibility.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan announced the addition of authority to the newly elected Oliy Majlis (parliament). The Decree on November 19 was signed by Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov.

After the elections of the Oliy Majlis deputies, the government, including the Prime Minister and ministers, has its authority to the newly elected parliament. This is a standard procedure aimed at restarting the executive branch after updating the legislative body.

Abdullah Aripov headed the government in December 2016. More than 10 years – from May 2002 to August 2012 – worked as deputy prime minister. In parallel in 2005-2009, he headed the Uzbek Agency of Communications and Informatization.

In September 2016, after the election of the new president in the country, Abdullah Aripov returned to the government as Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Cabinet of Ministers for Youth Policy, Culture, Information Systems and Telecommunications.

After the election of deputies in 2019-2020, Abdulla Aripov was again approved by the Prime Minister.
