The Aral International Salvation Fund is, first of all, the unique experience of multilateral cooperation between Central Asia in solving one of the most acute problems of a global scale. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State – Founders of the International Aral Salvation Fund in Dushanbe.
“The problem of lack of water in Central Asia has acquired an acute and irreversible character and will only be aggravated further, the president noted, whose words are quoted by the press service of the Uzbek leader.
According to him, Uzbekistan advocates further improvement of legal foundations and the modernization of institutional mechanisms of the International Aral Salvation Fund.
“In particular, we propose: to conduct an inventory and revise the basic documents and agreements, including the provision on the fund that were adopted back in the 1990s; jointly analyze the current structure and prepare proposals to increase the coordination and performance of the work of the Fund; “Rules and procedures”, clearly regulating the issues of cooperation and activities of the Fund, “he said.
“We consider it advisable to entrust the working bodies of the Fund with the participation of international consultants to develop long -term plans for the development of the Amurian and Syr Darya basins. It is important to provide for the modeling of various scenarios for the development of the situation in the basins of these rivers,” the president said.
