President of Uzbekistan urged to appreciate country’s independence

The fate of our repressed ancestors calls for us to appreciate and protect our independence. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the ceremony of commemoration of the victims of repression on the Shahidlar Khotirasi alley.

“Living in this independent country, in the world and well -being is a huge good, the gift of the Almighty. Therefore, it is necessary to appreciate all this with a sense of gratitude,” said the president, whose words are quoted by the press service of the Uzbek leader.

According to him, the Uzbek authorities are making a lot of efforts to restore justice. “Commissions were formed with the participation of historical scientists, archival documents have been studied. Over the past two years, the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan has rehabilitated more than 850, and this year – another 240 of our compatriots. We should not stop these research. Our people should know the truth,” – President emphasized.

The President noted that at the same time it is necessary to perpetuate the memory of the victims of repression directly in the mahalla (regions) in which they lived.

I think it will be comprehensively correctly if we establish signs with names where the victims of repression were born and where their descendants live in schools now. Moreover, it is on such commemorative days that we need to visit their houses. We visit the war participants Why do not we remember the victims of repression?! After all, their life is full of heroism. We must study it, promote, bring it to young people, ”said the head of state.

In Uzbekistan, on August 31, the memory of victims of political repression of the Bolshevik regime annually honor.

During the Bolshevik regime, more than 100 thousand people who fought for national liberation were subjected to repressions in Uzbekistan. Many of them were slandered as enemies of the people and brutally shot, part of Sump.

October 8, 2020, President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an order “On additional measures for a deeper study of heritage and perpetuating the memory of victims of repression”.

With the participation of historical scientists, a lot of work began to establish and restore the names of all victims of repression. Cooperation with archives and museums, libraries and funds abroad has also been established, scientific expeditions are organized.

In the Republic of Karakalpakstan and in all regions, museums dedicated to the victims of repression have been created. Along with official materials, museums contain many historical documents and unique photos from family archives.

The names of the victims of repression, their life and activity are studied in the context of regions and areas.
