Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the statement published by the Communications Department of the President of Turkey, during the conversation the presidents discussed Turkish-Russian relations, recent events in Syria, global and regional issues.
President Erdogan said that Türkiye, on the one hand, continues to maintain the territorial integrity of Syria, and on the other, strives for a fair and long -term decision in this country. The head of the Turkish state added that it is important to open more space for diplomacy that the Syrian regime should be involved in the process of a political solution to the problem.
Erdogan emphasized that the most important issue in the context of the latest events in Syria is to prevent harm to the civilian population, Syria should not become a source of even greater instability. Türkiye does everything possible to ensure calm in Syria.
President Erdogan added that Türkiye will continue to occupy a decisive position in the fight against the terrorist organization of the RSC and its branches that are trying to take advantage of the latest events in Syria.
