Presidents Of Ukraine And Moldova Discussed Issues Of Energy And Regional Security

Moldova President Maya Sandu met in Kyiv with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

A joint statement published by the Office of the President of Ukraine says that the leaders of Ukraine and Moldova condemned the cessation of Russian gas supplies to an unrecognized Transnistria.

“The parties confirmed their commitment and the ability to ensure urgent and specific decisions to meet the energy needs of the inhabitants of the Transnistrian region, to prevent further escalation of the crisis and restore basic services,” the statement said.

Presidents also condemned “unprecedented subversive activities and hybrid attacks of Russia against Moldova” in the context of the presidential election and referendum held in October-November 2024 on the entry of Moldova in the EU.

“These actions demonstrate a clear intention to systematically intervene in democratic processes in order to destabilize the region and undermine stability in Europe,” the message said.

According to this information, Zelensky and Sandu turned to Russia with a demand to withdraw troops from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and Transnistria.
