Prime Minister: Kyrgyzstan Relies On Increasing Hydropower Potential

In its development, as a country that has no access to the sea, in the heart of the Central Asian region, Kyrgyzstan relies on increasing hydropower potential, disclosure of transit capabilities and digitalization of public administration.

This was said by the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev, opening the forum “Forming global influence”, which takes place as part of the World Government Summit in Dubai.

“Because, Kyrgyzstan is the” country of the Verkhov “in the region, this geographical location largely forms its agenda in the field of water resources. The total hydropower potential is more than 140 billion kW per year,” Kasymaliev said.

He noted that water resources provide the needs of the country, and are also the main source of water for the significant territories of Central Asia, located downstream.

According to the prime minister, the key project is the construction of the national project of Kyrgyzstan Kambaratinsky hydroelectric power station, which will ensure the production of 5.6 billion kWh of electricity annually. The head of government indicated that this would not only cover internal demand, but also export excess pure energy to the countries of the region.

Kasymaliev added that the second mega-project, which is aimed at Kyrgyzstan, is the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. The beginning of the practical implementation of this project was laid last December with the participation of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov.

“It is important to note that this project is not just a transport corridor, but an important strategic bridge that connects the country of East and West. This route will ensure the delivery of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan, as well as to the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East, including Turkey, and further to the European Union. Project will strengthen interregional ties, help to diversify transport areas and increase the competitiveness of the region as international transport and transit hub, which corresponds to the goals of the countries of Central Asia, ”explained the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“The third direction I mentioned is a digital transformation, the main goal of which is to make the life of our citizens and businesses easier, reducing the bureaucracy and the cost of public services. Today we are on the verge of a new era of public administration, where digital transformation, artificial Intelligence and big data become not just tools, but the basis for making balanced and strategically thought-out decisions. The artistic intelligence opens up unprecedented opportunities for the governments to increase the efficiency of management, ”added Adylbek Kasymaliev.
