Ireland Prime Minister Leo Varakar announced retired.
45-year-old Varadkar called the time when he led the country, “the most satisfactory period in his life.”
According to the prime minister, the reasons for his departure were “both personal and political.”
He noted that he would leave the prime minister as soon as his successor can take this position.
“After the seven years of stay in power, I no longer think that I am best for this work,” said Varadkar.
In addition, the prime minister announced the departure from the post of leader of the Fine Gael party.
Varadkar twice served as Prime Minister of Ireland and headed the Irish Party of Fine Gael since 2017. He was 38 years old when he took office as Prime Minister of Ireland in 2017. He was considered the youngest prime minister in his country. After the resignation of Varakar, it is planned to remain a member of the parliament.
