Japanese Prime Minister Isib Siger said that the tariffs introduced by US President Donald Trump for Japanese products can be characterized as a “national crisis.”
Prime Minister commented on Trump’s decision to introduce 24 percent tariffs for imports from Japan in the United States at a parliamentary session, Kyodo News reports.
expressing its disappointment that Japan was among the countries that are applied to return tariffs, despite the request to release it from tariffs, he emphasized that this situation can be characterized as a “national crisis.”
Ishiba called on the government to answer the tariffs introduced by the United States in the most effective way.
The Prime Minister believes that in the circumstances it would be “better” to meet Trump in the United States face to face.
Isib added that he is trying to talk with US President Trump on the phone.

US President Donald Trump announced mutual tariff rates that will be applied to the countries on April 2, which he called “Liberation Day”.
Having stated that the basic tariff rate will be 10 %, Trump shared information that customs tax rates will vary depending on the country, taking into account tariffs and non -tariff barriers introduced by other countries.
In this regard, it was decided to introduce a 24 percent tariff for American imports from Japan.
The Japanese government asked to free it from a 25 percent additional customs duty entered into steel and aluminum products as part of Trump tariff measures.
