Japanese Prime Minister Kisid Fumio plans to organize a meeting with the leaders of South Korea, Australia and New Zealand on the fields of the NATO summit in the USA.
According to NHK Japanese state television, Japan seeks to develop the possibilities of cooperation with “single-minded countries” in the context of the growing influence of China in the Indo-Pacific region.
The leaders of Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Australia are preparing to participate in the Summit of NATO leaders, which will be held in Washington July 9-11.
In particular, the Prime Minister of Japan stated that he would coordinate a four -sided meeting with the participation of the leaders of South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
“We want to strengthen cooperation between Japan and NATO and take the necessary steps in the face of the current international situation,” said Fumio.
The purpose of the meeting is to send a message about the “preservation of the status quo” in the face of the growing influence of China, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and missile threats from North Korea.
Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand are countries of the Indo -Pacific region that are not included in NATO.
