Moldovan authorities hope that negotiations on the country’s entry into the European Union can begin until the end of this year.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Moldova Natalya Gavrilitsa following the results of the negotiations that she held during a working visit to Brussels with the head of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
“We hope that the negotiation process will begin as quickly as possible – until the end of the year. We productively discussed the efforts of Moldova in fulfilling the conditions formulated by the European Commission to start negotiations on the EU,” Gavrilitsa said at a briefing.
In turn, the head of the European Parliament noted that “the process of European integration includes many stages, but Moldova can count on the help of the European authorities on each of them”.
She promised that the EU would fulfill its obligations and provide Moldova Macro -financial assistance to 145 million euros, which will increase the total support of the republic to 600 million euros.
The Heads of State and Governments of the EU at the summit in Brussels on June 23, 2022 approved the provision of the status of a candidate for joining the community to Ukraine and Moldova. Its receipt is the beginning of the journey to the EU. To launch negotiations on the entry of countries, it is necessary to fulfill a number of conditions, including reform and settlement of the Transnistrian problem, but Moldova President Maya Sandu hopes that the country will be accepted to the EU by 2030.
