Prime Minister of Slovakia excluded military assistance to Ukraine

The new prime minister of Slovakia Robert Fitzo excluded military assistance to Ukraine, reports the news Internet publication Delfi.

Fit for the first time held a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian colleague Denis Shmygal, the interlocutors talked about humanitarian cooperation, follows from the publication.

Prime Minister of Slovakia specified that “excluded the supply of weapons and ammunition from state warehouses and the army” Ukraine.

Both premieres published posts on Facebook about the results of the conversation.

Fit said that he did not believe in the military decision of the conflict in Ukraine, “since it leads only to unnecessary bloodshed without results.”

The head of government added that in Slovakia it will continue to prohibit the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.

At the same time, Slovakia is ready to help Ukraine in cleansing, provide special equipment for this, as well as cooperate in the energy sector and help humanitarian, Fitzo said.

The prime minister also noted that Bratislava supports the European perspective of Ukraine and Moldova, but together with the countries of the Western Balkans.

He said that he agreed to meet with Shmygal in early 2024 on the Slovak-Ukrainian border: “The topic of the meeting will be cooperation in these areas.”

Shmygal wrote that Ukraine is hinging in the near future for the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on control at general checkpoints.

According to him, during the conversation, priority areas of bilateral cooperation were determined: restoration, energy, development of border infrastructure.

Kyiv counts on the participation of Slovak companies in various areas of the restoration of Ukraine, Shmygal noted.

“thanked Slovakia for the consistent support of the European perspective of Ukraine. We are waiting for the positive decisions of the EU leaders summit this month,” he added.
