The restoration of Ukraine in the next 10 years will need 542 billion dollars.
This was stated by the country’s Prime Minister Denis Shmygal during a speech in Milan.
The head of the government in the video conference mode took part in the meeting of representatives of the state and private sectors of Italy and Ukraine, organized as part of preparation for the “Restoration of Ukraine” conference, which will be held in Rome on July 10-11.
At the same time, the prime minister referred to a new report by the World Bank on the assessment of damage and needs.
“The restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine is the largest project of this kind in Europe since the Second World War,” said Shmygal.
According to him, investments should be invested primarily in the energy sector, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture and information systems of Ukraine.
The prime minister called the process of joining Kyiv to the EU “irreversible”. “We are working to ensure that Ukraine is ready to join the European Union immediately after the end of the war is an irreversible process,” he said.
Shmygal expressed confidence that Ukraine will make a significant contribution to the development of the European economy due to its natural resources, human capital and geographical position.
“Ukraine, being a country with the largest capacities for storing natural gas in Europe, will guarantee the supply of energy carriers to the continent,” the head of government said.
