The total volume of red meat in Turkey in 2023 increased by 8.8 percent compared to the previous year – up to 2 million 384 thousand 47 tons.
According to the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k), in 2022, 2 million 191 thousand 625 tons of red meat were produced in Turkey.
Last year, compared with 2022, the production of beef increased by 6.2 percent – to 1 million 670 thousand 606 tons, lamb – by 16.3 percent – up to 569 thousand tons, goat – by 11.3 percent – up to 128 thousand 989 tons, buffalo meat – 13.3 percent – up to 15 thousand 386 tons.
If in 2014 the total production of red meat was 1 million 123 thousand 59 tons, then in 2023 it reached 2 million 384 thousand 47 tons.
Last year, the production of beef amounted to 70.1 percent, the production of lamb- 23.9 percent, the production of Kozlyatina is 5.4 percent, and the production of buffalo meat is 0.6 percent of the total production of red meat in Turkey.
