Digital Silk Way project (Digital Silk Way), implemented by Azertelecom and providing for the formation of a digital telecommunications corridor connecting Europe from Central and South Asia, was presented at the telecommunications and IT conference of Turkmenistan – “Turkmen 2021”, held 10- November 11 in Ashgabat.
At the conference held in a hybrid format (both in real time in Ashgabat and online with the participation of international partners), discussions and presentations were held on such topical topics as digitalization, cybersecurity, building a unified national communication network, Space technologies.
At the conference, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azertelecom Fuad Allahverdiev. He spoke about the digital silk path between Europe and South Asia, formed by Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as well as about the project of the main fiber-optic cable line for the bottom of the Caspian Sea (Trans Caspian fiber optic cable line), which is the Caspian seaside segment of this global digital corridor. Allahverdiyev emphasized the role of this important digital infrastructure project in the development of the countries of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
It was noted that a digital silk path, which will allow to transfer Internet and content from Europe to Asia, and will also provide faster data transfer as the shortest intercontinental route.
The formation of a digital silk way between Europe and South Asia as a result of the gasket of the main cable line between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan for the bottom of the Caspian Sea will create new opportunities for cooperation for other regional partners located around this digital route, and will contribute to digitalization in Central Asia and Caucasus.
