Prosecutor General about “Termen case” and arrest of General Bekir Orujov

The Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan has disseminated information on the progress of the investigation on the so -called “Termen case”.

“Terther case” is one of the most scandalous in the new history of Azerbaijan of criminal investigations in the case of officers accused of betrayal and espionage. In total, hundreds of victims have been identified in criminal cases to today. These are the military, to whom the accusations of state treason were made. Some military were killed, unable to withstand torture. Subsequently, they were rehabilitated posthumously.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, 288 new persons who underwent torture and illegal actions were identified and comprehensively interrogated over the past period. Thus, 405 people are currently recognized as victims of the case.

Prosecutor General’s Office asks persons undergoing torture, physical and psychological pressure in connection with the investigation of the facts of state treason in the May-June 2017, but not recognized by the victims, will apply to the Prosecutor General’s Office “961” and 012 361 16 47.

During the preliminary investigation, evidence was obtained that Temkin Nizamioglu died in the hospital from injuries obtained as a result of torture. His body was exhumed, the fact was confirmed by the conclusion of a forensic medical examination.

Due to the emergence of reasonable suspicions of torture in relation to individual military personnel during the investigation, illegal deprivation of their liberty, in relation to Orujov Bekir Shirin Lug and Akhmedov, Ramil Bashir Oglu, criminal cases under articles 126.3, 145.3, 293.3, 341.2.2 and 341.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. A measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen in relation to them.

Recall that recently law enforcement agencies was detained by the acting head of the Office of ideological work and moral and psychological support of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Major General Bekir Orundzhev.

Rahib Ramazan Oglu Mammadov was also involved under Articles 145.3, 293.2, 341.2.2 and 341.2.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

At the same time, reasonable suspicions arose on the fact that Gurban Dzhumshudov and Javid Agadadashev are involved in illegal actions against more people in relation to more people. They were charged under Articles 145.3, 293.2, 341.2.2, 341.2.3 and 128 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Thus, for the period, which has passed since the resumption of criminal proceedings, a total of 17 people were brought to criminal liability under various articles of the Criminal Code, with respect to 12 of them a decision of restraint in the form of detention, in the form of detention, in the search for one person is declared.
