Prosecutor General’s Office begins to investigate torture of officers in Terter

In the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, a re-investigation of the “Territsky case” began.

Under the “Territsky case” means exposure to hundreds of military personnel of the Azerbaijani Army in May-June 2017 on suspicion of treason, as a result of which at least 11 servicemen died.

In this regard, a new investigative group was created. According to information, employees of other law enforcement agencies are also involved in the investigative group. Recall, a criminal case in connection with the resonant events that occurred in the military unit were initiated in May 2017. In November of this year, the Military Prosecutor Hanlar Veliyev for the first time in a long time told about the “Territer’s case”. According to Veliya, during the investigation conducted by the military prosecutor’s office, it was established that in the period before the investigation of the military prosecutor’s office – for several days – physical violence was committed against persons suspected of state treason: “One person died before A criminal case was initiated … It was found that torture was applied in a massive order against military personnel in illegal form. Therefore, a criminal case was immediately opened. ” Veliyev then said that some people were hospitalized. “For them, violence was applied. A criminal case was initiated on the fact of the use of torture. In this case, 16 people were brought to criminal liability, and then to judicial responsibility and sentenced to various long-term deprivation of liberty.”
