Supporters of Imam Muktada al-Sadra occupied the parliament of Iraq, defeated the tents there and prepare for a long seated strike, writes Al Jazeera.
Previously, the demonstrators broke into the building of the Council of Representatives (Parliament of the Republic – Ed.), Which is located in the government “Green Zone” in the center of Baghdad.
“Supporters of the Muktada al-Sadra announced a sedentary strike before further notice,” the AS-Sadra movement said for journalists, transferred by Ina.
Since the fall of last year, there is no new government in Iraq, despite negotiations between parties. The As-Sadra block left the parliamentary elections in October as the largest parliamentary faction, which led to the most prolonged political vacuum in the country since 2003. Until now, an agreement has not been reached on the appointment of a new Prime Minister, President or Cabinet of Ministers.
