The Council of the Federation received the appeal of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the use of the Russian army abroad, said the Speaker of the Lower Chamber of Parliament Valentina Matvienko, reports Russian BBC service.
Nikolai Pankov spoke before the senators, which represented Putin. Senator Andrei Klishas reported that the appeal to the use of the Armed Forces abroad was received on Tuesday, February 22. He recalled that the decision on the possibility of using the army is subject to consideration in the Federation Council.
Appeal was accepted on the basis of Putin’s decrees on the recognition of the “DPR” and “LPR” signed on the eve. It is necessary to maintain peace in the region, explained Klishas. The Committee supported the appeal.
The number of the military contingent will be determined, follows from the text of the decision, which the Committee recommended to accept the Lower House of Parliament.
Senator Victor Bondarev, who heads the Defense Committee, spoke after Clishas. On behalf of his committee, he also recommended that the president consent to the use of the armed forces abroad on the basis of international law standards.
