Russia’s authorities are based on national interests, not “teachings from the outside.” This was announced on April 28 by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with members of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation, Russian state media reports.

“I want to say that the entire parliamentary corps at all levels responds to the challenges of time. Parliamentarians – I have already talked about it more than once – they do a lot for victory, help war veterans, veterans of military operations. Many themselves got into the ranks of volunteers, defenders of the Fatherland. Of course, this is a strong, courageous act that causes special, sincere respect,” the president said.
The Russian side does not refuse contacts with Western parliamentarians, said Vladimir Putin.
“We do not refuse contacts with Western parliamentarians both in North America and Europe. They don’t want to – this is their business, but we are always ready for this,” the head of state said. Putin also noted that the number of friends and like -minded people in the world is growing.
The President of the Russian Federation instructed to determine the unified standards for the support of the military who participated in “special operations”, using the best practices of the regions.
The head of state emphasized that the coordinating roles in this matter can be played by the Council of Legislators and the Parliamentary Associations of the Federal Districts.
The Russian President instructed to take every updated national project for parliamentary control.
“The work is a lot … I ask each of them to take on parliamentary control, to connect all forms and feedback mechanisms with people in order to objectively evaluate the course of transformations, to see how much the result corresponds to the expectations of society and the obligations of the state,” Putin added.
