Russian President Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who arrived in Moscow on an official visit, Russian media reports.
During the negotiations, the Russian leader congratulated his Tajik colleague on the success of the party he headed in the parliamentary elections.
Putin noted that the voting results confirm the wide support of the Rahmon course among Tajikistan citizens.
In addition, the head of the country also expressed confidence in the further development of strategic partnership between the two countries.
Elections to the Parliament of Tajikistan took place on March 2.
Based on their results, the ruling People’s Democratic Party received a majority of votes and took 12 of 22 deputy places.
