Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree with the opinion of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, that the fate of humanity is currently depends on the narrow circle of countries who won the Second World War and are permanent members of the UN Security Council.
“No,” Putin said, answering the question of the moderator of the meeting of the International Club “Valdai”, adding that he understands the reasons for such an Erdogan statement.
“because he believes, apparently, that Turkey could be a permanent member of the Security Council. But this is not us, not Russia to decide – it is necessary to decide during the consensus when determining and final solving issues of this kind”, – Quotes TASS words of the head of the Russian state.
President Erdogan on October 18 criticized the existing UN device. “We argue that the fate of humanity cannot and should not be thrown on the mercy of the handful of the winning countries in World War II,” he said.
According to Putin, he discussed the UN Question with Erdogan, when he came to Russia recently. “I said that I saw his theses, I did not read the whole book, of course. Separate ideas, I agree with them, a good analysis actually,” said Putin.
According to the UN Charter, five permanent members of the Security Council of the Organization, which have the right of veto, are Russia, China, USA, United Kingdom, France.
