Putin and Mirzieev exchanged views on regional issues, primarily in the context of the exacerbation of the situation in Afghanistan.
“When discussing issues of bilateral agenda, a high assessment of the development of Russian-Uzbek relations of strategic partnership and alliance was given,” the report says. The presidents of the two countries agreed about further contacts, the press service reported.
Earlier, on July 5, Putin talked on the telephone with the leader of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon, they discussed the situation on the Afghan border.
