Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he received through Turkey a new proposal for negotiations with Ukraine. The Russian leader said about this at a press conference following the BRICS summit.
“, recently, again, the Turkish side, an assistant to the [President of Turkey] Mr. [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan called directly from New York and said that there are new proposals, who are asked to consider negotiations, ”said Putin.
The Russian leader said that he had given his consent, but the“ next day ”by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky refused.
According to him, before accepting the proposal of negotiations, the Russian side must first find out whether “this is what Ukraine wants or not.”
According to the President of the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian side does not need peace negotiations, since their beginning “would lead to the fact that it is necessary to cancel martial law and hold the presidential election.”
Putin added that Russia is grateful to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the site for negotiations with Ukraine in 2022. According to him, during the negotiation process, the parties entered the draft peace agreement.
Neither Ankara nor Kyiv has yet commented on the statement of the President of Russia.
