Relations with Algeria are of particular importance for Russia and are strategic in nature. This was said by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with Algeria President Abdelmadzhid Tebbun in the Kremlin.
Putin recalled that relations between the two countries began to take shape back in the mid -50s, and even then they were “strategic character without any exaggeration.”
“Russian-Algerian interaction is currently truly multifaceted and has significant potential for further development. According to the results of negotiations, we, dear Mr. President, will sign a declaration of deepening a strategic partnership between Russia and Algeria, which will mark the beginning of a new one, yet a more advanced stage in bilateral relations, ”said Putin.
According to him, Algeria is one of the three leading Russian trading partners on the African continent. “Yesterday, as far as I know, you should have visited the Russian-Alger Business Forum. I hope that interest on both sides in events of this kind will only increase. Looking ahead, I will note: we will be glad to see you in St. Petersburg at the end of July on the second Summit Russia – Africa, ”said Putin.
The Russian leader also noted Russian-Algerian coordination in the framework of multilateral formats and organizations. “Russian -Algerian coordination within the framework of multilateral formats and organizations is at a good level. Our efforts through OPEC+ and forum of gas exporters contribute to stabilizing world energy markets,” the president said.
In addition, Putin noted the constructive interaction of the Russian Federation and Algeria on other sites, in particular, to the UN. “With the election of Algeria for 2024-2025, a member of the Security Council I hope that this interaction will only intensify, the Russian leader noted.
Putin also attracted attention to the development of humanitarian ties. “The opening of the national hero Algeria Square in the center of Moscow was also timed to your visit. This object will become another good, bright symbol of strong Russian -Algeria friendship,” Putin summed up.
Meanwhile, President Algeria Abdelmadzhid Tebbun expressed a desire to speed up the process of entering his country to Brix. “As you know, a very tense environment. It is necessary that we accelerate the process, so that we enter the BRICS group and that we do not accept dollars, not euro. It will be beneficial for Algeria,” the Algerian leader said.
“As for the geopolitical situation, relations here, we must touch on the Libyan question. Libya is a friend for Russia and Algeria, so we always wish that there is stability in this country,” Tubbun said.
