Qatar invests in joint projects with Kazakhstan an amount of $ 20 billion.

The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan (upper house) ratified the agreement on a long -term strategic partnership with Qatar, which is aimed at developing projects in key sectors of the economy, reports Kazinform.

The document provides for the implementation of investment projects in Kazakhstan in areas such as telecommunications, energy, transport, petrochemistry, agriculture and finances. The agreement also includes guarantees for the protection of investors from the enforcement of property, stability of the tax regime, as well as the provision of a number of tax and customs benefits.

The Ministry of National Economy explained that the agreement implies the implementation of such projects as: the creation of a new telecom operator, the construction of a gas processing plant at the Kashagan field, the second thread of the Baneu-Shymkent gas pipeline, power plants in the Kyzylorda region and a hydroelectric power station on River Irtysh.

The ratification of the military cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar was previously reported.
